WMSE History: "Turn Your Radio On Again"

This would be the text that introduces the concept of the WMSE Historical Page, touting WMSE's Anti-Establishment history and continued contributions to Milwaukee's music scene.

This would also be a good place to drop a "Help to preserve WMSE history and to sustain our future by Becoming a Member" button.

Here would also be an intro to the concept of the interviews with WMSE pioneers, legends and current DJs who are responsible for the greatest radio station in Milwaukee.

The "Host" of the Show: Paul Host

As a truck driver, Paul Host tuned into dozens of college radio stations with formats that blew away the local late 1970s, early 80s Milwaukee radio scene. Inspired by his cross-country travels picking record bins and hearing incredible music, Host became one of the original WMSE volunteer DJs. Paul was music director from 1982-1994, serving as a crucial guide for WMSE’s early musical diversity and helping the station to withstand the notorious “Metal Ban” in the mid-1980s. Paul led interviews with everyone from Jaz Coleman to Lou Reed. He went out on the town with GIGI Allin and may or may not have encouraged Henry Rollins to leave the WMSE studio (the wiry guys are always the toughest, says Tom Crawford). Paul continues to discover incredible music to this day and shares it live on 91.7 each Saturday afternoon.
